Eat your way to Healthy Hair


So I’v been promising so many of you that I will start blogging little beauty secrets, tips and recommending products to you! The idea came about after many of you would message or tweet me asking me general questions; what do I use on my hair, how do I keep my skin clear, how do I stay in shape etc.  And rather than answer each individually, this makes more sense.  Soon I’ll just start filming short clips because I think that will be easier.

The most common question I get asked is How Do I Keep Such A Full Head of Healthy Hair. Oops, my bad, the most common question is most definitely, “How come you are not obese because you eat enough for a whole family, daily”. But we can speak on that in another post lol. So back to my hair. As a model/actress, your hair can get badly mistreated; tugged at, ripped apart, cut carelessly. And because I have a fair bit of hair, rather than extensions being used, most of the time all the abuse is done to my own hair to achieve the style required for the shoot! So it is sooo important that I take care of it as much as I can. I am guilty of neglecting it often, and not getting into a regular routine with my hair care, yet I’ve found some quick and easy fixes for stressed hair. So even if you’re always strapped for time, or even cash, you can still keep your hair soft and silky. NO EXCUSES.

You Are What You Eat

Gillian McKeith couldn’t have been more correct; what we put in our bodies, is what shines on the outside. So my first quick beauty tip is gonna be SUPERFOODS. There are sooooo many amazing foods packed with omegas, amino acids and proteins that do wonders for your hair and skin. You’d be so surprised at how quickly they start to take effect as well. Here are a few that you NEED to be including in your diet if you want your skin and hair to glow

Avocado – Add it to your salad, sandwich, pasta, put it on toast, make a guacamole, juice it, I don’t care how you eat it, just make sure you eat it weekly!

Flaxseed oil – Contains essential fatty acids that our body needs but cannot produce itself. Buy a bottle for about 8 quid and add it to natural yoghurt, or take 2 teaspoons daily. This is also AMAZING for a healthy heart, so run to the health shop now now now!!

Aloe Vera – Buy an Aloe Vera plant and use the gel as a hair mask. Leave for up to half an hour before washing thoroughly.  But it’s also great to take Aloe Vera as a supplement or juice. It is full of antioxidants and boosts your immune system also.

And of course, Water – It is extremely important that you stay hydrated. When you dehydrate yourself, you dehydrate your hair too and trust me, it shows. So keep sipping.

There are so many more but I will leave you with just those for now. Remember all of these these can be consumed/taken in many different ways, so experiment and find out what works for you.

If you are naturally quite unhealthy, you may see your skin start to suffer as you start a healthier lifestyle and diet. Don’t worry; that’s just the toxins and badness coming out through your skin, which shows it’s working and detoxing your body. Keep it up and before long you’ll have fresh, new, glowing skin.
