Curl Snob: MoroccanOil ♥

September 13, 2011 2 comments

So recently I’ve been loving the wash and go attitude you can have with naturally curly hair and I have been fully embracing my curls. It’s been a pleasant change from my usual silky straight; I can wear it huge and afro or in cute little ringlets, jazz it up with a few twists, plaits or quiffs and I’m good to go.  Being curly has been fun, I must say. It brings out my wild side 😉

So when it comes to hair products I want one specifically for curly hair, and one that will ensure my hair curls perfectly. And that is surely MoroccanOil’s  Intense Curl Cream; tried and tested. It gave my curls a wonderful bounce and I have a head full of ringlets whenever I use it! You only need to use a little bit, and your hair is also noticeably softer immediately after the first application. Simply rub a small amount through wet or dry curls. I can’t wait to try out the rest of the range 🙂

MoroccanOil can be purchased and also delivered to your house for a good price via one of my favourite hair salons, The Hair Lounge, Portobello Rd. 0208 969 9444. Give Charlotte a call and ask her for some of that good stuff. Say I recommended it to you.

To all my curly haired readers, let me know how well the product worked with your hair

Tom Ford Fall 2011/12 Beauty Ad Campaign ♥

This September, Tom Ford is launching a full color cosmetics collection. The impressive 132-piece collection will also include skin care. Ford told WWD that he likes a strong eye and mouth for night, and the look is Studio 54 in 1978. Ford pays attention to detail, offering us calligraphy tip brow pens that allow you to draw on individual brow hairs! How amazing is that?!! And I am totally loving the diverse range of colours; the lipsticks look like they will be to die for, with everything from sexy subtle nudes to passionate plums and deep reds. It seems as if Tom has covered everything a woman needs in terms of make up products; it’s obvious that he has spent a long time studying what is missing from our make up bags. The color collection will range from $30 to $250; lipsticks $48.

And just in case the make up isn’t enough to satisfy us, he’s also adding two new fragrances to his multi Fifi award-winning Private Blend collection: Santal Blush and Jasmin Rouge. The fragrances range in price from $195 to $475.

Shot by Fashion photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, the ad campaign looks hot, with not only Lara Stone in the ads but Tom Ford himself! He said he believes the products will sell even better with him in the shots, and that his appearance has little to do with vanity.

It was inevitable that Tom would launch a beauty range; he’s an authority on all things beautiful, sexy, and chic so it only makes sense.

I will certainly be one of the first in the stores once the range becomes available; need to get my hands on that green eye shadow! Thanks Tom!

Get beautiful hair, naturally

Here’s another great tip for beautifully healthy looking hair; grab all your shampoo and conditioner bottles and add drops of ylang ylang and rosemary essential oils. For every 2oz of product, add 1 drop of each oil. This stimulates hair growth. Don’t ever say I’m not good to you 😉

Bio-Oil gives your skin that glow!

June 6, 2011 3 comments

It is of course true that what you put inside your body is indeed what will show on the outside; therefore your diet plays a crucial part in your appearance. For example, if you have an unhealthy lifestyle, eat crappy food and a diet missing vital vitamins, as well as lots of stress etc, then using a good cream is only going to do so much, in fact so little, to the appearance of your skin.

However, there are a few products that are very effective and definitely worth grabbing in stores. One of them is most certainly Bio-Oil. I have personally been using Bio oil on and off since I was young as my mum was always a fan of it. The results are obvious. It is ideal for scars, stretch marks, uneven skin tone, blemished skin etc, but I just use it simply to give my skin a healthy glow. It is also ideal for pregnant women because as I mentioned, it is great for stretch marks. And don’t be put off by the fact that it’s an oil; it is in fact non-greasy so you needn’t worry 🙂

Some people say Bio-Oil is a little pricey, maybe it is, but I guess that depends on the price you’re willing to pay for healthy looking skin. I managed to pick up a 200ml for £15 the other day from a pharmacy; in Superdrug it’s about £20.

I am a witness that Bio-oil works, and as I promised you all that I would keep posting my beauty secrets and tips, I thought I should recommend it. Of course, there are alternatives and other products I recommend. You’ll just have to wait for those 🙂 Give Bio-Oil a try for 3 months and let me know your thoughts on the results xx

Eat your way to Healthy Hair

May 17, 2011 5 comments

So I’v been promising so many of you that I will start blogging little beauty secrets, tips and recommending products to you! The idea came about after many of you would message or tweet me asking me general questions; what do I use on my hair, how do I keep my skin clear, how do I stay in shape etc.  And rather than answer each individually, this makes more sense.  Soon I’ll just start filming short clips because I think that will be easier.

The most common question I get asked is How Do I Keep Such A Full Head of Healthy Hair. Oops, my bad, the most common question is most definitely, “How come you are not obese because you eat enough for a whole family, daily”. But we can speak on that in another post lol. So back to my hair. As a model/actress, your hair can get badly mistreated; tugged at, ripped apart, cut carelessly. And because I have a fair bit of hair, rather than extensions being used, most of the time all the abuse is done to my own hair to achieve the style required for the shoot! So it is sooo important that I take care of it as much as I can. I am guilty of neglecting it often, and not getting into a regular routine with my hair care, yet I’ve found some quick and easy fixes for stressed hair. So even if you’re always strapped for time, or even cash, you can still keep your hair soft and silky. NO EXCUSES.

You Are What You Eat

Gillian McKeith couldn’t have been more correct; what we put in our bodies, is what shines on the outside. So my first quick beauty tip is gonna be SUPERFOODS. There are sooooo many amazing foods packed with omegas, amino acids and proteins that do wonders for your hair and skin. You’d be so surprised at how quickly they start to take effect as well. Here are a few that you NEED to be including in your diet if you want your skin and hair to glow

Avocado – Add it to your salad, sandwich, pasta, put it on toast, make a guacamole, juice it, I don’t care how you eat it, just make sure you eat it weekly!

Flaxseed oil – Contains essential fatty acids that our body needs but cannot produce itself. Buy a bottle for about 8 quid and add it to natural yoghurt, or take 2 teaspoons daily. This is also AMAZING for a healthy heart, so run to the health shop now now now!!

Aloe Vera – Buy an Aloe Vera plant and use the gel as a hair mask. Leave for up to half an hour before washing thoroughly.  But it’s also great to take Aloe Vera as a supplement or juice. It is full of antioxidants and boosts your immune system also.

And of course, Water – It is extremely important that you stay hydrated. When you dehydrate yourself, you dehydrate your hair too and trust me, it shows. So keep sipping.

There are so many more but I will leave you with just those for now. Remember all of these these can be consumed/taken in many different ways, so experiment and find out what works for you.

If you are naturally quite unhealthy, you may see your skin start to suffer as you start a healthier lifestyle and diet. Don’t worry; that’s just the toxins and badness coming out through your skin, which shows it’s working and detoxing your body. Keep it up and before long you’ll have fresh, new, glowing skin.

Give it a try; it works for me 😉
