She’s Alive!! (Jamal Edwards 21st Private Bday Party)

August 25, 2011 Leave a comment

So last night I stepped out on to the social scene for what has been a very long time! (Hence the post title) Admittedly I can be quite a bore, preferring to stay home alone than to be out as I get bored very easily of commercial music, I’m not a fan of crowds and I have better parties at home ๐Ÿ™‚

Of course, when it comes to work events it’s different, but I have to admit that I have been very naughty recently and have been avoiding events and parties simply because being home with a book always seems more appealing.

But when my friend invited me to his birthday I couldn’t say no; turning only 21 and already having some major achievements under his belt, it was only right that I went to celebrate such a young talent.

Jamal Edwards; founder of SBTV amongst many other things. You already know about him and if you don’t….. shame on you!

So I headed down to a personal fave venue of mine; ย Shoreditch House where Jamal had hired the 4th floor for his private birthday celebration. I saw so many faces I hadn’t seen in a while, that was nice. And I got to meet a few twitter friends and that was nice as well ๐Ÿ™‚

Sorry, I am terrible with taking pictures sometimes because it seems so time consuming! There were a few cameras going round so if I come across those pics I will share with you. I have a few on my phone though ๐Ÿ˜‰

The birthday boys cake…. how fitting!

When we weren’t on the dance floor, we were sitting down on the sofas chatting, playing games of bowling, or eating cake! Or just clowning around…

With the Wretch32

Sharea and I decided to leave the madness that was the party downstairs, to go upstairs to the rooftop and chillax by the pool, for a moment of peace and serenity ๐Ÿ™‚

It was also great seeing, spotting and catching up with: DJ Sarah Jane, G Fresh, Jason Maza, Arjun Rose, Marvyn Harrison, Tazer, Wretch 32, Pariz, Jak Frsh, Daren Dixon, Cleo Sol, Shola Ama, Cherri V, Vis, Dynamo Magician, Reggie Yates, Sincere and SO many more that I will remember as soon as I wake up properly ๐Ÿ™‚ Also lots of love to the supporters that found me and said hello! Some of you even acted out your fave parts of Anuvahood to me; it was sooooo funny! Love for that.

All in all I had a good time. Maybe I will start venturing out again…. hmmm. We’ll see.

P.S I wore a cropped top from an unknown place as I randomly found it in my wardrobe! A pair of leopard print skinnies from ARMANI, and KURT GEIGER heels. I threw on a leather jacket to turn it slightly rock chick, and added accessories from Freedom, as well as a pretty pink and green bracelet with diamonds I got in NYC. Effortless!

Portia Freno shoots for Ohema Ohene

I shot the look book and editorial for established African designer Ohema Ohene. It was a pleasure visiting her boutique and I fell in love with a few pieces. The new collection will see British designs with an African influence. I will blog a new post in the Fashion section, featuring some of the collection, so look out for that.

The editorial was a little crazy, with me sporting green lips and freaky eyes. I LOVE editorial so was really up for it, not to mention green being one of my favourite colours. I’ve never had to shoot so quickly though; had to deliver the shots within seconds before rushing off! Was good working with Luke Nugent who recently worked with Jessie J. A sweet guy to work with and very humble considering his talent. I definitely intend on working with him for one of my own shoots in the future. Check out his work here

I wasn’t able to get pics of my final make up look, but took some quick snaps for you during make up so you can get an idea.

After filming, I rushed to meet my girl Sharea who was on set, to do a bit of networking and show my support. I’m really looking forward to seeing more of the project!

I then had a few hours of chilling out with my girls which felt soooo good; I even had a cuppa! My girl curled my hair (blurry pic alert)

Later in the evening, I travelled to Kizzy’s house where her and her girl Kisha had started on a track; it sounded baaaaaad. Looking forward to when that is completed.

Gotta dash daahlings,

Models eat too!!!

A few days ago I filmed for celebrity hair stylist Charlotte Mensah, for videos that will be shown at her talks and conferences across Bulgaria. I almost didn’t make the shoot as I had been booked for another shoot that day; but everything worked out perfectly. Here are some behind the scenes pics….

It was what you might call a relaxed yet professional shoot; I say relaxed as there was plenty of food and champagne, and that is not common in my work lol. I probably have to be the only model you have met, or the only female in general that eats as much as I do. On arrival I ate a burger, shortly after before even make up, I was eating jollof rice and chicken, then in between shooting I was eating tuna pasta. It’s shocking that I stay in shape, but I have never believed in starving yourself (in fact, I believe in quite the opposite)

Charlotte Mensah is a fantastic hair stylist and entrepreneur, winning a Business Woman Of The Year award and travelling all over the world due to high demand.

I actually recommended another model/actress for the filming; Sharea Samuels. Sharea is stunning and mad talented; look out for a feature on her soon.

I will be in quite a few publications in the forthcoming weeks/months so keep a look out

P xx
